METROPOLIS (1926) 10/10
That film is the perfect silent German Expressionist film ever. Everything about it, plot, script, acting, directing, sets are beyond wonderful. Now, there are plenty of other wonderful Silent films (Nosferatu, The Phantom Of The Opera), but this is the king of them all. If you can not handle silent films, then do not watch this film.
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE’S ROMEO + JULIET (1999) 4/10
While I do praise the actors for doing a fantastic job of being in character, the score for creating the tone for the film, and the overall modernization of the classic (but least favorite) Shakespeare play, Luhrmann’s exaggeration of trying to make the film artistic in the sense of making it look unique does fail on a lot of levels. I would say watch this film if you are a fan of the original story or wanted to see what would happen if this story took place in the 1990s.
SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD (2010) 9.5/10
This is the type of film that is like being hit in the face with a breeze of ice cold air on a hot day. Everything about this film is beyond original from the plot, to the script, to the special effects. The only real compliant about this film is the casting choice of Michael Cera as the lead actor. I have just about had it with Cera playing the same type of roles in every film he is in. It worked in Superbad, but it just does not work here. Watch this film for the plot, the special effects, and all the tributes to famous video games such as Pack Man, Final Fantasy, and The Legend Of Zelda.
THE NEVERENDING STORY (1984) 8.5/ 10
Now, this film is a bit of a mix bag. There are a lot of good things in this film that are fantastic, and then there are some terrible things. The main good points have to be the world of Fanatasia, the creatures, and the wonderful score that is played threw out. The negative things include the human world and some of the matting. Recommend for people who love fantasy films and want to know what is like to be a child again.
