A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (2010)
RATING: 5.5/ 10
It had a lot of good things going for it, but too many screw ups (and a very bad tribute to Pulp Fiction towards the end) that ruined it. Plus, so many unimportant and unnecessary scenes that would added just for sex appeal. Do not watch this film, watch the original.
SAW V (2008)
RATING: 7/ 10
It is better than SAW IV by any means. It did keep my attention and while it did have a slow pace at the beginning, it was made up for by the main trap. One of the better SAW films, thou SAW II is still the best I have seen next to SAW I. Not for the feint of heart.
SAW VI (2009)
RATING: 7.5/ 10
While it is better than SAW V (by a hair), I felt that the first trap was not really needed, but overall did set the tone for the film. This film did have a lot of things going for it and I am glad that first time director Kevin Greutert did hit most of those parts, but there were a few he did fall back on. It is with this knowledge that I am glad that he is directing SAW 3D.
THE BREAKFAST CLUB (1985)
RATING: 9.5/ 10
You are only a teenager/ were a teenager if you can take your life and incorporate it into this film. The only real problem is that the first thirty minutes are a little slow paced. Almost a perfect film with spot on script, score, acting, and direction. It has everything for a Great Film.
KING KONG (1933)
RATING: 8/10
The only thing that is the major draw-back is the human actors in this film. They were stiff beyond comparison! They were not bad, but they were not great. But, Kong, the production, the painted backgrounds, special effects, score, all of that was beyond fantastic. If you see this film, see it for the good parts. Worth a watch if you love old, historic films.
CARRIE (1976)
RATING: 9/ 10
f you want a film that scares you about your religion and the negative side affects, this is the film that will do that. If you watch this brilliant horror film, watch it for Piper Laurie’s performance as Carrie’s God-Obsessed mother and watch her downfall. This film has perfect everything. The only real problem is that not much back story is given to Carrie. But that’s okay.
AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (1981)
RATING: 6/ 10
In terms of this being a horror film, this reviewer feels that it does not meet that point. But, in terms of a dark, violent comedy, then it does succeed. This films main highlights will have to be the werewolf, the atmosphere that does accomplish chilling your bones, and the transformation scenes. Not for the feint of heart.
