Chapter Thirty Five
To this day, it still shocks Vincent that he was passed out for about a week after his encounter with those three men. When he came around, noticed a few things. The first being that his eye (left to be exact) was swollen, his jaw felt weird, and his back was in enormous amount of pain. And sitting on a chair next to him was Cyri. When Vincent groaned, she looked at him and smiled.
“hey you, good to see that you are up finally. For a second there, me and a lot of others thought you were done for.” She parted his hair on his forehead and leaned in to kiss him.
“Well, thank God that is not the point now is it not?”He laid back down on his bed. “What has happened sense I got knocked out?”
“Well, to begin with, we, being The Children Of Darkness do not know who the hell those people where. The ones that ambushed us. It is strange. They come out of no where, attack us, then they become frighten. Well, I had not seen any of them anywhere sense then.”
“How do you know?” Vincent said, trying to sit up in his bed. “You were hiding the entire time.”
“Actually,” Cyri took out a mini video camera. “I was originally going to take some photos of our date together, but when we got ambushed, I decided to go and instead video tape the entire event and photograph the three guys. They are rather blurry, but from what I can tell, these are guys that I have never met before in my life. The eyelash on that one guy, an image you can never forget.”
“Download the files into my computer next to you, please.” Vincent fell back down.
“I already done that while you were passed out. I figured that you might want them.” Cyri said with a smile.
“You know, that is what I like about you: You think of everything. More people need to do that more often.” Vincent released a deep sigh.
“If you do not mind me asking, but how the hell did you have a machete in your jacket?” Vincent gave a mini laugh.
“Well, when I was getting ready for our date, I was at Dumas' restaurant and I saw that his family has some machetes. I figured that in case Tad was to attack me for dating you, I would be prepared.”
“Funny you should bring him up.” Cyri said, leaning back. “I showed him the people that ambushed us. He said he has no fucking clue as to who they are. But, sense he still has a love for me, he will do some research and put aside all negative and ill feelings he has for you in the pursuit of finding out who they are. And those side kicks of his, McCartney and Stalin, we can not find any trace of them other than that Pop singer and that former leader of Russia.”
“What have the other said?”
“They are all going to do the same thing: keep an eye open just in case something was to happen any time soon.” Cyri stood up and lightly threw her arms around Vincent. “I am just glad that you are alright.” She started having some tears formed. “You do not realize how worried I was about you.”
“It's okay Cyri.” Vincent tried, with pain, putting his arms around her. Patting her back. “I am alright as of now. And soon I will be back to full health and then we can strike them with everything we have.” Then they were silent until Veronica sighed.
“You two do not realize how completely cute you two are, don't you?” When Cyri turned around, she ended up blushing. Vincent, whose face was already red due to swelling, becoming even more red.
“Veronica! I'm sorry. I should have known that you were there.” Cyri said, getting her things.
“No problem. Actually, I am glad that you are packing up. When I came back, I got a message from Mark. He said that he wants you home. He left a call about five minutes ago. So, say good bye to Vincent and get on your way.” Cyri nodded her head, kissed Vincent on the top of his head, and then stood up and left. Not before Veronica went and embraced her.
Once she was gone, Veronica pulled up a chair and sat down next to Vincent.
“So, my little heartthrob,” She said with a giggle. Vincent rolled his eyes. “How do you feel?”
“Like shit.”
“I can imagine. Well, when they brought you home, you can imagine my reaction I had. I never saw you so hurt in my life! I called the school, and they said that when you go back next week (today is Friday) they will work with you on all that you missed.”
“That's good to know.”Vincent lay back down.
“Now, Vincent,” Veronica said with a heavy sigh. “There is something I need to talk to you about. To be honest, I am getting worried about all the hell that has happened in the last year. First, a child at your school is subjected to a holocaust. Then you had another child sexually tortured and in the hospital still. Then you. This is just not the same place I remembered. Well, I am sorry to say this, but for your own health, we are moving out of here.” Vincent felt his heart skip about a thousand beats.
“What?!?!” He stood up, ignoring the pain in his back. “Please tell me that you are playing some sick, twisted game with me and that we are actually going to stay here?” Veronica looked away then.
“So, that is it then?” Vincent laid back down. When are we moving?”
“At the end of the month.” Veronica said. “We will be moving to Boise, Idaho. I have not told any of your friends. When you see them all again, tell them about you moving.”
“But,” Vincent started to say.
“No buts Vincent.” Veronica said. “I have already made all the arrangements. I am doing this for your own good. I mean, my God! I can not believe what had happened to you! I know that your first real friends live here, but if your life is going to be at stake, then there will be no way in Hell I am going to allow this to happen. As of now, you have three weeks to say good bye to your friends. If I were you, I would make these next few days last.”
A WEEK LATER...
Everyone was looking around, wondering why they were all there on that Saturday morning. They were all at a table, most of them were quiet when Vincent came in. He looked back to normal, but his face now bore some permanent scares due to the beating he had undertaken by those guys.
“Hello everyone,” he said with a tired sigh. “As a lot of you have already guessed, Cyri is not here today. The reason why has to do with what I said.” Everyone did look around and saw that Vincent was right when he said that Cyri was not there.
“Everyone, to some of you, this has been one hell of a year. We done a lot of shit and for me being able to share all of that with you, it has been a pleasure. This has been the best year of my life and for the experience, I thank you all. But, due to recent events involving me, my mom has thought that it would be best if I was to move. Next week is going to be the last week I am going to be here. After that, I will seize to live here.” He looked around and saw that everyone had some form of an emotion ranging from shocked to being pissed.
“For the majority of you, I love you all. I care about you all. And while I am gone, Cyri is going to take my place. For the time that I will be gone, I will keep in contact with he and she will be telling me all that will happen. So, when it comes down to who will take my place, you will all listen to her. Now, the reason why she is not here is because of the fact that I have already told her. She is beyond upset. But, one thing that for some of you made need to know, me and her are still going to be boyfriend-girlfriend. Just long distance. Some of you I will be talking alone about things I want done in my absence. I will admit it all to you all: I am, in my own way, not at all pleased with this. Christ, I wish there was something I can do. But, mom has already decided that we are to move to Boise, Idaho and start a new life there. Now, there will be some of you I am going to ask to stay. And after I am done, I will no longer be your leader. It has been great to be here with you all, and I will miss you all.”
