WRISTCUTTERS: A LOVE STPRY (2006) 8.5/10
Wristcutters: A Love Story is one of the most unusual films in the way it depicts the afterlife for people who commit suicide. This film does question the afterlife, trying to find a way to get out, and what it must be like to be dead. The only thing that did not sit with me was some of the acting and a few parts of the script. This film is decent but, do I recommend this film? Not to the mainstream film goer.
SPY KIDS (2001) 8.8/10
Robert Rodriguez's Spy Kids is a perfect example of what a light hearted action/ adventure type movie should be. Now, most of you knowing me, this is not a bad thing. For the age group this film is set at, it hits the target, but there are some things that most kids would not get, but adults would. The main thing to look for is the acting (Danny Trejo as MACHETE is the main show stopper here in this film. ) and the score done by Danny Elfman.
SHINE A LIGHT (2010) 9/10
Martian Scorsese and The Rolling Stones? When I heard that the legendary director was going to be directing one of the legendary band's concerts, I seriously did not know what to think. But, after watching the entire product, I will admit that this non-fan is impressed. The highlight of the entire film will have to be the first twenty minutes when we see Scorsese working with the band. Another thing I thought was nice to see was some clips from interviews from previous television appearances by the Stones. I recommend this to anyone that is a fan of The Rolling Stones, Martian Scorsese, or both.
NATURAL BORN KILLERS (1994) 9.5/10
Natural Born Killers is, without a doubt, one of the most unique films I have ever seen. This film takes elements from the real life killing couple Bonnie & Clyde and mixes it with crack. In terms of script, score, acting, directing, and cinema-photography, this film hits them so hard they have exploded. This films main draw back is the pacing. Recommend for everyone to see.
HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS (2000) 5/10
While the sets are fantastic in bringing to life Dr. Seuss' world, it fails on making things eerie at times for this sort of tale. On The Grinch, I like how they tried to make him have an anti-hero outlook, but they fail at not giving more of a reason to have sympathy for him. I only recommend it if you love the original story.
