Chapter Five
Vincent liked riding the buses. Because they allowed him to clear his mind. But in the one week that Vincent had lived in Colorado, he learned one thing: Cyri doesn’t always ride the bus to school. So on the first day Vincent saw Cyri at the bus stop, he just had to ask her.
“So, why is it you very rarely ride the bus?” He asked, feeling the ice cold air hitting his face. This was a feeling he very much enjoyed.
“Because, I like hanging around some of my other friends.” She said taking a drink of coffee.
“Just so I know,” he said, turning around to face her. “who are your other friends?”
“I tell you what,” Cyri said, taking a last giant gulp of coffee. “Sit by my friends at lunch today. You will get to know them pretty well.” then, just out of the blue, she let out one of the loudest burp Vincent has ever heard. “Excuse me” she said sheepishly.
“Wow,” That was Vincent had to say. Then, the bus came. When they got on the bus, they found some seats at the back that know one was using. On the bus’s stereo, Panic! At The Disco’s I write sins, Not Tragedies was playing. Then, with out realizing it, they were both singing the lyrics. It was weird because they realized that no one else knew the song. It was also so peacefully on the bus, until he showed up.
There was this little kid, not much higher than 4’11’’, wore all black (just like Vincent), had this dyed black hair that covered his face, and wore a Linkin Park tee-shirt. He went to the back of the bus and sat across from were Vincent and Cyri wore. He turned toward Vincent and smiled.
“Hi, asshole!” he said waving his hand.
“Excuse me, but why did you call me that?” but before the kid could speak, Cyri put her hand on Vincent’s shoulder.
“Don’t worry about it.” Then she turned toward the boy. “And Tad, stop saying that to every guy I speak to.” Then he was quiet for the rest of the bus.
“Tad?” Vincent asked Cyri, turning around in his seat.
“Yeah, that is Tad. You see, tad is one of my oldest friends. He knows everything you know about me. And because of my boyfriend and what he had done, he doesn’t trust any males.” Then she turned toward Tad. “And Tad, you can trust him.”
“Why?” he asked suspiciously.
“You remember DAIKAIJU? Well, this is him.” Tad looked sad. Vincent could not figure out why. But he did not need to worry for long because the bus had pulled into the school.
For the next few hours, Vincent did not talk to Cyri until there break. When he got to her table, he saw Cyri and Tad, but a group of five other girls. They all look as if they all got back from a Joan Jett concert.
“Vincent!” Cyri yelled across the room. When he came over, this girl with pretty orange hair moved and sat next to Tad. “Well Vincent, you want to meet my friends, well here they are! Let’s start by introducing the girl on my right.” Vincent looked and saw she had hair similar to Janet Leigh’s hair from Psycho, and wore a long, silk jacket that beautiful engravings of birds that had the words LOVE and HATE printed. “This is Jadis. Now, across from Jadis is Maxine.” She looked a little overweight, but not a LOT. “And next to Tad is his girlfriend: Coraline.” Coraline was the girl with pretty orange hair. But there was one other girl. She had very long, beautiful legs. The legs of a track runner. “And the last girl is Joan.” Joan just looked up and then tilt her head back down. And that was that for her.
“Vincent,” Jadis spoke. “From what Cyri has told us, you had known her over the internet. Well, as her bodyguards, we need to spend some one-on-one time with you to see if you are a threat to her and to us.”
“When will this happen?” Vincent let out a sigh.
“Over the next five days.” Jadis said with a grin.
“Okay.” Before Vincent could say anything, they had to get back to class. The rest of the day was the same as usual, boring school work and lectures. But when it was time to leave, Vincent could not seem to find Cyri anywhere on the bus.
“She is with her friends.” Tad said when he sat down next to Vincent. They were silent for the rest of the time until they got off at Cyri’s bus stop. When they got off, Vincent and Tad started talking.
“So,” Vincent started off, “how did you meet Cyri?”
“I meet her on my first day here. Like her other friends, we were all friends way before Cyri arrived. And after she made her approach, we all just became friends.” They were silent for a while until Vincent got an idea.
“Tell me your life story.” Tad gave Vincent a strange look.
“Why?”
“Because I like to know who I am talking to.” Tad gave a deep breath, and began to speak.
By the time I was eight, I was expelled from about three different schools. The schools said that I was not concentrating on my work, nothing gets signed, and I don’t cooperate well with others. Well how can you when you live my life? I am a child that has a crap load of brothers and sisters, low income, and have parents that continuously use me and my siblings to back fire each other. But what really shocked everyone was when I got angry and beat the living hell out of my mom. You see, I had anger management issue. So what happened, my parents had me put under arrest for a few months in prison. The kind of prison kids go to. And lets say I was let out for good behavior.
Then, when I got back, my parents had been divorced. My father decided to keep me and got married to one of the worst step mothers in history. I wont go into details but what I will tell is that she believes all music is the work of Satan, except gospel. So, as you might have guessed, I had to hide the fact that I owned heavy metal items.
Anyway, when I got into middle school, I meet Cyri. I originally had a crush on her, until I found Coraline. She and me meet at a Hot Topic. I wont go into details, but after words, she and me became long term boyfriend-girlfriend.
Then the event happened. When Cyri’s boyfriend betrayed her. I know who the person is, but I was sworn to never reveal his name. I sworn on the day she found out you where DAIKAIJU. Which Now leads me to here. Any questions?
In all of Vincent’s life, that was the shortest life story he had heard. But, he didn’t ask why. He just took it.
“So, where do you live?” Tad asked when they where standing in front of Vincent’s house.
“Right here!” he said. Then, there was this look of surprise on Tad’s face.
“I live on the other side of that house.” He pointed at Cyri’s house. Vincent’s jaw dropped.
“Well, see ya!” then tad ran toward his house. The only thing on Vincent’s mind at that time was astonishment over the fact that another one of his friends lived ridiculously close to him.
